Don’t miss

The rum baba — made from the original 1730 recipe

The oldest pâtisserie in Paris (since 1730) — the rum baba here is a historical monument in its own right.

Why we love it

Founded by the pastry chef of Louis XV, Stohrer has been on Rue Montorgueil for nearly three centuries. The baba au rhum is the signature — soaked, syrupy, decadent — and the puits d'amour (puff pastry with vanilla cream) is equally legendary. The painted ceiling by Paul Baudry adds a touch of Versailles. Eat standing at the counter like a true Parisian.
